Automobiles in German City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were alerted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Police then discovered many other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the public for tips.

A senior official said the incident made him stunned and had to be solved rapidly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
